How the Custom Order Process Works at Jaeger Design LLC

salvaged black walnut live edge slab for sale at jaeger design llc

Step 1: Reach Out

Every custom order starts with a conversation. Send us an email with a brief description of what you have in mind — the type of piece, your space dimensions. Or we can discuss your vision over the phone—a more personal approach to understanding your needs. There's no commitment at this stage, just a chance to explore what's possible.

Step 2: Consultation & Design

Once we connect, we'll dig into the details: dimensions, leg style, finish, wood species, and how the piece will live in your space. This is a collaborative process — we want to understand not just the specs, but the feel you're going for.

Step 3: Slab Selection

This is one of the most rewarding parts of the process. Rather than choosing from a catalog, we search different suppliers depending on species. I will present options that fit your project, walk you through what makes each slab unique, and help you land on the right one.

Step 4: Proposal & Deposit

Once we've aligned on the design and slab, we'll send a formal project proposal with pricing and timeline. To acquire the slab and begin production, we require a 75% deposit upfront. The remaining balance is due upon completion.

Step 5: Craftsmanship & Updates

This is where the work happens. Lead times vary depending on the complexity of the piece and our current production schedule — we'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you informed along the way. Every piece is built by hand in our shop with careful attention to detail.

Step 6: Delivery & Final Payment

When your piece is complete, we'll share photos before it ships or is picked up. Final payment is collected at this stage, and we'll coordinate delivery or arrange a pickup time that works for you.
